Governor Ibrahim Sherakau of Kano State has stated the State's pledge to support the constitutional amendments in order to ensure a proper demarcation of constituencies in the State.

He made this known while receiving Independent National Electoral Commission chairman Maurice Iwu, adding that the State deserves more seats in the State House of Assembly due to the large population of Kano.

According to Governor Sherakau, the State House should have 55 members as against the 40 obtained at the moment, adding that everything would be done to maintain its position at all levels.

The INEC Chairman meanwhile said the review of constituencies was mandated by the Constitution and his visit to Kano was to ensure the success of the exercise.

He said that it is possible that constituencies be expanded across Local Government boundaries and if a Senatorial District's population exceed three hundred thousand people.
