No less than five persons were killed and ten others; including a journalist, were injured as the factional dispute of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Ogun State took a violent turn.
The violence, which left commuters stranded, began when one of the factions attacked the leaders of the Kuto Garage with matchetes, guns and charms, killing one of the leaders, Alhaji Musiliu Alasela and four others.
State Police Commissioner Olusegun Solomon while confirming the incident which he described as an intra-union problem, however said only one corpse was seen. He also said no arrests have been made so far.
The renewed violence between the rival factions; the Akeem Bodurin faction and State NURTW Chairman Tajudeen Baruwa, has already the lives of at least six people this year despite repeated efforts by the State Government and Police for peace.
