Nigeria continues to take advantage of the buzz around reality television shows and this time, former football international John Fashanu in collaboration with Oceanic Bank are bringing to Nigerians the first football reality show; Football Challenge with Fash.

ImageThe show will see 30 aspiring football talents show just why football is a passion in Nigeria over the next couple of weeks under the tutelage of Fashanu himself as well as Dr. Fanny Amun and ex-international Friday Elaho.

Already, the fellas have had a feel of what life can be like as a made footballer after they moved into the Fash House on Day 1; a plush, tastefully furnished, swimming-pool-in-the-yard house...

That's the consolation after a hard, drilling day on the field though, so hard they forget they had a pedicure earlier, and a few drinks too; non alcoholic ones of course.

With the first day of training gone by, it was time for the 30 to be split into two teams of 15 each; that was not a problem beyond Dr. Amun. Then a captain had to be chosen for each team and that brought a bit of deliberation on both sides and in the end Team B chose Chuks Nwokocha as captain.

Team A meanwhile went for age and experience, and I mean that in every sense, when it chose Lucky Amata as captain. Lucky, at least had the guts to state he is 42 years old and yet he still made the cut for the 30 on the show...let's not even dissect the age issue with the others here or owls would fall asleep.

Anyway, with the captaincy issue aside, both teams had to pick a name to go by and well well, both came forward with Dream Team as their identity. Siasia suer knows how to influence us. However, only one could have the copyright to the Dream Team franchise and we were treated to a round of nail-biting, "Premier League material" penalty shoot-out which Team B eventually won. Team A would later choose "Outcast" as their name...Mr. Fash wasn't too impressed with the choice but it's the players' call.

So the line has been drawn between Dream Team versus Reality and the best players would be selected to make up the next stage of the show that wouold consist of 15 players...till then, in the words of Dr. Fanny Amun, "we must proceed further".
