Obagoal's Mother Dies of Shock from Tanker Explosion

A tanker filled with fuel yesterday exploded in the Orile area of Lagos State after, according to eye-witness accounts, the tanker driver was trying to avoid a pot-hole on the road.

The explosion so far has claimed the lives of 10 people while the mother of Newcastle of England and Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins is reported to have died from shock as a result.

Popularly known as Alhaja, Martins' mother is said to have stepped into her car soon after the incident with a relative, only to faint minutes later from shock. Also victim in the explosion was a pregnant woman.

Residents around the area of the explosion explained that the occurence is not new to the area, as one resident put it, "at least one tanker is involved in an accident on the area every week".
