Kwara State Governor Bukola Saraki has stated that more revenue be allocated to States for the education sector with the aim of achieving more effective results in the sector as it is the States that truly understand the issues concerned.
He made this known in Ilorin the State capital after launching the Every Child Counts education reform agenda, adding that the idea of a single education policy in the country is not ideal.
The Governor also appealed to the national leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers to give dialogue a chance and seek ways of ending the current strike action for the country's good.
According to him, negotiation would bring sanity back to the education sector. He also noted that the State Government has formulated a number of policies to address the problems previously inherent in the State.
