Chinedu Ogbuke is right now caught in the club versus country tangle following threats being made by his fans in Enugu State to his family after he decided to stay at his newly promoted Bundes-Liga club 1899 Hoffenheim.
The 22 year old, expected to be in the final list of players to prosecute the football event of the Olympics for the national U-23 team, had received news of his brother being verbally attacked by fans angry at his decision to stay in Germany.
Hoffenheim meanwhile in a statement said it considers Ogbuke an important part of the team that would be embarking on its first ever campaign in the Bundes-Liga, adding the player had reluctantly decided to stay with the club.
However, the club could still be forced to release Ogbuke for the Olympics if the Nigeria Football Association petition the Federation of International Football Associations for his release as he is in the age bracket for players eligible for the football event.
