Six major cities in Ogun State will soon have their digital maps updated for the purpose of speedy and coordinated development according to the Director of Physical Planning in the State Mr. Olufemi Oyekanmi.
The cities to have their maps updates are Abeokuta, Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, Ilaro, Ota and Ifo. According to Mr. Oyekanmi, the existing maps are the ones done in 1957 and that has made physical planning in the areas difficult.
He added that the government after updating maps of the six major cities would update those of the remaining areas of the State to ease the preparation of the master plan for the areas.
Meanwhile, the State Bureau of Urban and Physical Planning as well as the Urban and Regional Planning Board have been commended by the Ogun State Economic Advisory Committee for their revenue generation drive.
According to the Committee's Chairman Otunba Lekan Bello, the Board and the Bureau occupy third and fourth position out of 11 revenue generating agencies in the State and advised both agencies not to relent in their efforts.
