The U-20 national team of Nigeria yesterday in Abeokuta defeated Senegal 2-0 in the first leg of their African Youth Championship (AYC) qualifier.
Following a goalless first half, Ganiyu Oseni gave the Flying Eagles the perfect start to the second half, latching on to a defence splitting pass from Rabiu Ibrahim to slot home from the near post seconds into the half.
Victory was sealed later on through Kabiru Alausa, giving the LAdan Bosso led team a two-goal cushion ahead of the second leg slated for Dakar in two weeks time.
Nigeria won the last edition of the AYC in 2007 and was one of Africa's representatives at the last edition of the World Youth Championship in Canada, losing scandalously to Chile in the quarterfinal.
