Residents of the surulere metropolis of Lagos state would definitely have noticed an unusual flow of traffic this morning as the crème de la crème of Nollywood came around to commission the new secretariat of the Actors Guild of Nigeria {AGN}.

The new national secretariat, located at 17 Ajao Road off Olufemi Street in Surulere was commissioned by the representative of Universal Insurance Nigeria Plc, one of the sponsors of the event.

The occasion was well attended by dignitaries including Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and Florence Ita - Giwa as well as notable movie icons like Alex Osifo and Olu Jacobs.

The event also witnessed the donation of a Toyota Sienna car to AGN by Universal Insurance Plc.

It might also signify the beginning of a new era for the actors as corporate outfits have come out to pledge their support for the Nollywood project.

The representative of Ecobank at the event pledged the support of the bank for the movie industry while hinting that the bank is ready to help nollywood overtake bollywood and Hollywood …let’s pray so. He also stated that the bank is open to proposals of acts that promote Nigerian culture. Furthermore, he said the bank would soon come up with a reality TV show that would help raise upcoming movie talents.

Oceanic bank also expressed its willingness to partner AGN to any level…it started by promising to install all the electronics needed in the new national secretariat.

What else can we do but to sit back and watch as events unfold?
