Isaac. pix: apprentice africa website As it turns out, Isaac’s journey all the way from Ghana was not in vain. After a review of the eighteen weeks of hustling and bustling on the screens of Nigeria, Biodun Shobanjo, chairman of Insight Communications and the CEO of The Apprentice Africa decided that Isaac fits the status of his ideal apprentice much more than Eunice did.
Actually, I should say I saw it coming. Especially since the CEO hinted that Isaac gave his all at all time.... this was not the same for Eunice. Watching the special final edition of the show, one could also deduce that Eunice lost, not because of the ability to execute tasks but more because of weak interpersonal relationships. When asked who they thought should be The Apprentice, Nnamdi, Nancy and Regina all thought Isaac was the right man for the job.... ’he is a complete leader’. Only Kathleen thought, ‘Eunice was a quality professional with quality’.... if you remember well, Isaac suggested to the CEO that Kathleen should be fired after a task because she was ‘the weakest link’. The show was almost turned into a debate between the two finalists when Isaac referred to a stage in the series when Eunice ‘lost the integrity he had for her’ stressing that that disqualifies her. Sincerely speaking, with the looks on Eunice face at that point, she could have shot Isaac if she had a gun. To worsen her case, the CEO interrupted just when she wanted to reply. Summarily, the CEO and his crew concluded that he wanted an apprentice that is man of character and integrity, that is creative and that "I can hand over a company”. They pointed out that Eunice was average as regards relating with people. The implications of declaring Isaac The Apprentice Africa winner are that he gets a $200, 000 cash prize, and the population of the city of Lagos will sure increase by three as he would have to start living in Lagos with his wife and child. You all will quite agree with me that it has been eighteen weeks of great show of creativity on the screens and for once…we all had a show on our screens that everybody could watch. Well…Good luck to Isaac as he enjoys his status as the first Apprentice Africa…he shouldn’t forget to send my kenke. Meanwhile, if you are keen on being part of this season’s Gulder Ultimate Search and you are yet to register, I’m glad to tell you that you are on your own…11,000 people have registered just in one week…so hurry. I wish the organizers a happy headache in choosing the best ten for the show.
