United States Backs EFCC under Farida |

The United States of Ameriaca has announced its backing of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission’s (EFCC) under the new elected boss AIG (Rtd) Farida Waziri.
According to a statement fromm the US Embassy in Abuja, the United states reiterated its continued strong endorsement of Nigerian Institution, not individuals, in their investigation and prosecution of all forms of corruption, especially at the highest levels. “In this regard, the United States is maintaining its support of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s anti-corruption institution. Our continued support is contingent upon the success of those institutions, and success will be measured by all the results of their work. “On numerous occasions, the United States has underscored its backing of the goals of President Yar’Adua’s seven point reform agenda. One of the central pillars in this programme is the fight against corruption, which is taking place through such institutions as the EFCC”. Retired Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police Mrs. Farida M. Waziri was appointed lat month as the new chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to replace the EFCC Director of Operations, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Lamorde, who acted as the EFCC chairman after Nuhu Ribadu, the formaer EFCC chairman was sent National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru on a nine-month course.
