I know your eyes would be scanning this page for the winner of the show. Am sorry I don’t have it yet and you can’t find it anywhere else because the CEO has differed his decision till the next edition of the show. But, if you continue reading, you might be able to guess correctly the eventual winner of the contest.
You already know the finalists…Eunice Omole, the Americanized Nigerian and Isaac Dankyl, our brother all the way from Ghana. It is no gainsay that, having come this far in a contest that included 16 people at the start, these two persons deserve to be The Apprentice Africa. Interestingly though, nobody gave these two a chance in the early stages of the show except, of course, their families and friends. But in the later stages, they both became formidable forces that could not be ignored, not even by the CEO. Before going too far, let’s tell you about last episode’s contest. The task was for both teams to create an interactive event for Bank PHB with the theme, “Experiencing Bank PHB”. In executing the task, the six most recent evictees were recalled, this time to be employees of the remaining two contestants. Isaac and Eunice were afforded the opportunity to choose three each of the six returnees after a coin toss that gave Eunice the chance to choose first. At the end of the choosing spree, Eunice ‘somewhat strategically’ ended up with Tunde, Kathleen and Blessing. If you are a consistent follower of the show, you’ll remember that Tunde was closer to Isaac than anybody else in the show. Although Kathleen had been in the same team with Eunice they were not best of friends. As for Blessing, she was like…on a different planet from Eunice’s…she even confessed that she would like to see Isaac win the contest. You’ll quite agree with me that Eunice seemed to have pitched her tent with her enemies. As for Isaac, he has been relatively on good terms with everyone on the show. Although he had his preferred choices amongst the six which were calculatively deprived of him by Eunice, he ended up with Deox, Regina and Nnamdi. He said he had wanted Tunde and Blessing on his team…Eunice chose them first. The execution of the task did not witness any noticeable glitches. The two teams surprisingly carried along well enough…maybe because the levels had changed from being teammates to being employer and employees. Isaac-led Zulu corps, during their event, tried to introduce the bank’s customers to the history of the bank. They placed emphasis on the enormous progress the bank had made especially in terms of profit and then narrowed their talk down to one of the bank’s products; Naira Credit Card. They also did a kind of raffle, which gave out N20, 000.00 to the winner. Eunice’s matrix corps started by drawing the customers down memory lane to the old tally system of banking. You know…the kind that makes customers get tally numbers on their arrival on their arrival to the bank before joining a queue…then only God knows when they would leave the bank. The team then transformed to the more efficient banking system of today. I could not help but to thank God for technology and Soludo…for bank consolidation. To the boardroom, the CEO commended both contestants and asked them to wait in the reception. Then the CEO and his two assistants went into a review of both contestants’ record in the show, which continued till the end of the episode. From their discussions, one could tell that the winner was not going to be decided on the last task only but also the overall performance of the contestants since the show started. From the analysis put forward by the CEO and his crew, Eunice has made seven trips to the boardroom whilst Isaac has made only three. Also, Isaac has a clean record when it comes to managing projects – he won all his tasks as Project Manager. Also to Isaac’s credit is the fact that failure prone Matrix corps witnessed a …sort of… overnight change in fortune when he joined the team – they started winning tasks. As for Eunice, she could be rightly termed a good fighter having survived seven unenviable trips to the boardroom. She is also eloquent and self-confident. The CEO however raised a point, which I think might be the decider. He said while Isaac was always giving his all even when he did not believe in the ideas of his team’s leader, the same cannot be said of Eunice. He referred to a particular task in which Eunice stood aloof because she did not buy the project manager’s idea. As we all await the CEO’s final decision, let me remind you that this Eunice and Isaac contest might mean more than just a jostle for the Apprentice Africa seat. If you are gender conscious person, you might interpret it to be a battle between the male folk and their female counterparts. If you also conscious of your nationality, you might take the contest to have awaken an age-long rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana. Whichever way you take it, the CEO should be ready to give cogent reasons for his decision.
