The Committee of Public Relations Executives and Information Officers of Colleges of Education in Nigeria (COPRECOE) will from today gather at the Federal College of Education in Gombe for its 12th Annual Genral Meeting.
The AGM which will run till June 27 will however be officially declared opened on the second day by the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education in Abuja, Professor Mohammed Ibrahim Junaid. Tagged GOMBE 2008, the COPRECOE AGM will among other issues examine the ethics and principles of Public Relaions practice in educational institutions in Africa according to a statement by the National Secretary of COPRECOE Prince Charles Amadike-Otoboh (JP). Amadike-Otoboh, who also is the PRO of the Federal College of Education (Tech) in Omoku Rivers State, urged Provosts of Colleges of Education in Nigeria to sponsor their Public Relations Officers to the conference in Gombe as it would create a forum for COPRECOE members to exchange ideas on how best image building in the nation's Colleges of Education can be executed. He further disclosed that members would, during the meeting pay a courtesy visit to the Governor of Gombe state, the chairman Gombe state council of traditional Rulers and visit other places of interest. The 12th COPRECOE AGM will be chaired by the Provost of the host institution, Dr D. P Banu, and will have the Executive Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Mohammed Danjuma Goje as the special Guest of Honour. Also expected to grace the conference are the Gombe State chairman of the Nigerian institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and its Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) counterpart, the National Chairman of Committee of Provosts of Colleges of Education in Nigeria. Other guests are the Provosts, FCE(T) Potiskum, Dr. S .A Saidu and his Committee of Federal Provosts counterparts, Prof Mohammed Yahaya Bichi, the Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbaland and chairman, Rivers state Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Sir (Dr) Chukwumela Nnam Obi the second (OON,JP) as well as Provosts of all Colleges of Education in Nigeria.
