Organiser of premier reality TV show in Nigeria, Nigeria Breweries PLC, has announced the fifth season of Gulder Ultimate Search show tagged, “The Lost Chronicle”.
The Lost Chronicle is the fifth of a series of a reality show that can be rightly termed the pathfinder for reality TV shows in Nigeria…just keep your TV set on for a while…you’ll be amazed at the number of reality shows you will get to see. The past four seasons have seen ten contestants chosen from across the country, after a rigorous screening process which includes ascertaining their physical fitness; spend 21 days in chosen parts of the country. The first season was at the Snake Island, the second at Obudu ranch, last season was staged at the rocky and marshy Shere Hills in Plateau State. Dominic Modabai, an undergraduate of the University of Lagos, stole the show for last season by discovering the ‘Key to the Golden Age’. For doing that, he was punished with a cash prize of N5 million, N500,000 wardrobe allowance and a 2007 Ford Explorer. As much as many people would be wishing to get punished with such prizes, I think Modabai would be somehow wishing he had waited one more year before participating in the show. Why? In announcing this season’s show, the Corporate Affairs Adviser for Nigerian Breweries, owner of the Gulder brand, Mr. Ageni Yusuf also announced a raise in the prizes up for grabs. The new prize is totally valued at 17.5 million naira {7 million in cash, a brand new SUV worth 10 million and 500,000 wardrobe allowance}…oh, oh…now you understand. Well, this time around, the search will take place at the ‘undulating plains of the famous Agwu Hills in Enugu State’. According to Yusuf, ‘The Lost Chronicle’ which this year’s contestants are expected to find is a treasure that will banish the tyrant war lord and protect the future. Before I forget, for those of you who would like to try your luck with the show, the entry qualifications are quite simple. First make sure you are between age 24 and 30…if you are not up to that age range or you have passed it…you can call me…I’ll help you as appropriate…concerning the age. But for those of you who fall between this age range, just visit www.gulderultimatesearch.tv to register free of charge. Meanwhile, have it somewhere in front of your mind…or at the back that all applicants are to undergo a rigorous pre-qualification screening and selection exercise in five centres, including Lagos, Enugu, Owerri, Benin City and Kaduna, to qualify for the final selection in Lagos. And to encourage you guys, I know of a Pastor who has registered for the search…so…why not you? At the end of the final selection process in Lagos, ten contestants who would be, according to Ageni, “Strong, intelligent and able bodied young men and women who are determined to go the extra mile to achieve success in the ultimate search” will emerged. Making it to the top ten automatically qualifies the contestant for a prize as there are also improved prizes for the other nine contestants. Cash prizes of N2.5 million, N1.5 million, N750,000, N700,000, N650,000, N600,000, N550,000, N500,000 and N450,000 awaits the second to the tenth placed contestants in that order. Also, the last woman standing gets a N1 million bonus in addition to her prize money. For you all who are, for one reason or the other not participating in the search, brace yourselves up for 21 days of interesting adventure on TV as the search would be broadcast on Local and Cable TV starting from July 19 to August 9.
