     The event, tagged ‘An Evening With Pa Kasuma’ has got the backing of the governors of the two hosting states {Gbenga Daniel, Ogun and Babatunde Fashola, Lagos}. The event would be declared open by Gov. Gbenga Daniel at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta on the 4th of July. That day’s ceremony will feature a stage play, Cultural displays, film show, poetry rendition, musical performances and ‘Pa Kasumu on the Hot Seat’. The celebrations will continue on the 12th of July with a lecture on ‘The Background, Challenges and Prospect of the Yoruba Movie Industry’ to be delivered by Prof. Philip Ogundeji of the Department of Linguistics and African Languages, University of Ibadan – this will take place in the morning. An exhibition of his old works, launching and premier of his new movie, musical performances, comedy amongst others make up the list of activities billed to celebrate the movie icon. The anticipated presence of the Lagos and Ogun governors and their southwestern counterparts will definitely add a whole lot of prominence to the event. This might be responsible for the massive support it has gotten in terms of sponsorships. Skye Bank, FCMB, Zenon are amongst a host of others who have pledged their support for the event.
