The fixture list for the upcoming 2008/09 season in England has been released and the first big clash of the season would see Manchester United travel to Anfield and face Liverpool on September 13, traveling to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on September 20.
Then comes the Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool a week later at Goodison Park on the 27th, atrip for the Toffees to Arsenal on October 18 followed by a home match with the Red Devils on the 25th.
The weekend of October 25 would also see Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea who will be managed by Luis Felipe Scolari from July 1.
Arsenal and Manchester United are expected to clash on November 8 at the Emirates Stadium while a visit to Chelsea awaits the Gunners on November 29.
A major difference about this season's schedule comes in the Christmas period, usually the busiest in the Premier League. However, the period would only witness three games from the 20th of December with the league going on break from the 28th to the 10th of January when Chelsea would visit Old Trafford.
For the newly promoted sides, West Bromwich-Albion travel to Arsenal on the opening weekend while Stoke City would be guests of Bolton Wanderers. Hull City, who recently released Austin Okocha, would be at home to Fulham that escaped relegation on the last day last season.
The season is expected to run from the weekend of August 16 2008 to the weekend of May 24 2009 with Manchester United looking to make it three titles in a row, a record yet to be set since the inception of the Premier League.
The fixture list however is provisional and is subject to change by the Premier League in the event of clash of competition matches and television schedules. Below are the fixtures for the opening weekend:
Arsenal v West Brom Aston Villa v Manchester City Bolton Wanderers v Stoke Chelsea v Portsmouth Everton v Blackburn Hull City v Fulham Manchester United v Newcastle United Middlesbrough v Tottenham Hotspur Sunderland v Liverpool West Ham v Wigan Athletic Quote this article on your site | Views: 290 | Print | E-mail
