Nigeria’s Olympic bound U-23 team yesterday drew 1-1 with hosts Malaysia in their second match of the ongoing eight nation invitational tournament in the Far East nation.
Efe Okorowanta had given the Samson Siasia tutored side an early first half lead which stood till the 83rd minute when Malaysia equalised through Safee Sali to leave Siasia a bit disappointed at the end. The Dream Team IV had wasted a host of scoring chances to put the game beyond the reach of the Malaysians and ensure a place in the semi-final of the tournament. Nigeria however remains on top of Group B with four points from two games having defeated the Republic of Ireland 3-1 in their first match. The other group match yesterday saw Iraq and the Irish play out a goalless draw. Nigeria will next play with Iraq today in Kuala Lumpur needing just a draw to go through to the last four. The match with Iraq was supposed to be Nigeria's first in the tourney but was brought forward due to the late arrival of the Nigerian squad.
