This week’s edition of Idols East and Southern Africa saw the third group of the top 24 contestants compete for the two slots available to the group in the top ten. Nicollete and Eric finally made it to the top ten.
This time around, it was the turn of fellow Zimbabweans, Nicolette, Samukeliso, Eric and Adiona, Kenyan Doris and Zambian Chibwe to compete for the final tickets. After a Sunday night filled with effortful performances, the six contestants all filed out to get their verdict last night, Monday, 19 May. A big thank you to all her voters was all Doris could manage to say after she was shown the door. Adiona responded to her eviction a smile and a sad sigh saying she was sure Africa voted, but the votes were not enough…for her! Samukeliso, on her part, reacted to her loss by referring to one of the judges’ comments. “That Kawesa guy said I was crap, so I guess I was crap”, she said. After seeming to have taken a step into the final by making the top three, Chibwe was shocked with the news of her eviction from the contest. As it now stands, Nicolette and Eric join Trinah, Faycal, Ammara and Cythia leaving four vacant spots. The final group of the top 24 will compete for the finals in the next episode of the show.
