The second group of six of the first 24 contestants in the ongoing idols east and southern africa, in this week's editions of the programme, contested for the two qualification tickets available to the group with Zambian, Trinah and Ugandan, Faycal coming out tops. Faycal is the first male contestant to make the top ten.
Alice and Penjani representing Zambia and the Kenyan duo of Irenne and Katungulu also contested in this group. Each contestant performed a song to woo the audience's votes on sunday but they had to wait till the next day to know who the audience had decided on choosing. Penjani got the boot first before Irenne and Alice were also shown the door. Katungulu was already relinquishing a dreamy hold of a spot in the top ten before she was stunned with the news of her eviction. Their reactions, Penjani expressed her gladness to have "had the opportunity to be here on Idols and to sing for your votes". Alice admittec that she’d learnt a lot and that she’d carry the Idols experience with her everywhere. “I guess Africa didn’t like my performance…”, said Irenne. Trinah and Faycal now join Ammara and Cynthia in the top leaving just six spots for the rest of the contestants to vie for. However, not minding the fact that they are as hopeless as the contestants themselves in choosing the finalists, the judges have not seized to expressed their surprise or otherwise at the choices of the audience.
