The Apprentice Africa: "Nnamdi, You are fired!" Print E-mail

Life is a.... Well, you know that five letter word. That word was most probably what went through Nnamdi’s mind when he was fired from this season’s Apprentice Africa. He is the eleventh contestant to be fired from the contest.

To him, he had contributed his best to his team’s project. He even said he opted to trek a distance he should have taken a cab for just to cut costs for his team’s project – Matrix corp. sadly though, all these could not save him from the wrath of the CEO.

The show started with a reshuffle of the two corps to give them both equal amount of manpower.

The night’s task was for the two tasks to each create their own brand of non-alcoholic juice and sell at The Palms Shopping Mall in Lagos. The team with more profit margin carries the day.

Blessing was appointed project manager for Matrix corps while Regina was chosen to lead the Zulu corps for the project.

Both teams immediately swung into action. Zulu corps ended up creating their cocktail in three flavours while Matrix corps did theirs in two flavours.

At the Mall, Zulu corps was more flexible with their price tag selling each cup of their juice for between N200.00 and N1,000.00. On the other hand, the Matrix corps had their price pegged to N250.00 – this was going to be their undoing.

At the end of sales, Zulu corps made a profit of N60,595.00 whilst Matrix corps made N53,645.00 profit – Zulu corps won.
The winning team was rewarded with a trip to one of the over ten beaches in Lagos, Tarkwa Bay. Then, it was time to fire somebody.

In the usual manner of the show the losing team remained in the boardroom with the CEO to determine who loses his/her place. This time, the boardroom wasn’t a sight to behold. In fact, if that is how every boardroom is at all times, my friend, I’d advise you to be self-employed or worst still, unemployed. The rate at which accusations and counter-accusation flew amongst the team members was disturbing most especially between Eunice and Nnamdi.

In the end, the CEO chose to fire Nnamdi. His reasons being that Nnamdi was too aggressive and that he worked as an individual and not as part of a team.

Nnamdi’s reaction was simple: “It is ridiculous”.

Well, that leaves us with just seven contestants still contending to be Africa’s prime apprenticeship. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and wish them all the luck they might need.
