The Super Eagles of Nigeria maintained their position on the FIFA world rankings released for the month of April.
Nigeria remained in 39th on the world stage and fifth in Africa as not too many countries moved due to inactivity around the world ahead of the European Championships in Austria and Switzerland as well as World Cup qualifiers in June.
Ghana maintained their number one status in Africa and 14th place in the world rankings while Cameroon moved one place up to 16th in the world to remain second behind the Black Stars and swap places with Mexico on the world stage.
Cote D’Ivoire remained in 22nd as Africa’s third best placed team while continental champions Egypt remained fourth best in 30th position.
Guinea moved up one place to 40th in the world, just four points behind the Super Eagles while Mali, Morocco and Senegal follow in 44th, 45th and 46th respectively with Morocco swapping places with the Terranga Lions.
2004 African champions Tunisia complete the African top ten three places of the top 50 in the world rankings while Nigeria’s first opponent in the World/Nations Cup qualifiers, South Africa remained in 69th place.
The world’s top 15 remain unchanged with Argentina still leading ahead of South American rivals Brazil and world champions Italy in third.
