This can be exemplified in the life of the fastest rising music star in Nigeria today, Abolore Adegbola AKande a.k.a 9ice. His is a story that exemplifies desire for success, determination and faith in self. Having recorded his first demo titled Risi De Alagbaja in 1996 and his first solo song, 'Little Money' in 2000, the music star had to wait till 2005 before himself and his music started gaining recognition in the Nigerian Music Market. After recordign his first demo, 9ice joined a group called Mysterious Boys with whom he did a couple of tracks before going on the form his own,now defunct, group Abinibi. However, he never made a headway with any of these groups. After going solo in 2000, things did not just get better. As he later recalled, he used his JAMB money to record his first single, Little Money. In addition, he had to do odd things like going to the radio station with a CD without a sleeve and writing his song name on the CD with a marker. The 2008 Hip Hop World Awards' Revelation of the Year and Vocal Performance winner, likened to Akon by many for his distinct and sweet voice, has bee on the upward rise "Little Money" gained popularity after being re-released in 2005. He has, since then, been featuring in different collaborations, the most successful of which are chart topping 'Ruggedy Baba' with Rugged Man and Satirical song, 'Make dem talk' with 2shotz. The self-acclaimed custodian of the Yoruba culture got his stage name back in school due to, in his words, 'the relationship I established with my friends and colleagues and how reliable I can be when it comes to being my brothers keeper.' The figure 9 in front of the name was later added because he tries not to go 9 days without working on a new song. This means he works on approximately 40 songs per annum. The release of his much anticipated album, Gongo Aso has brought 9ice's popularity to a new level. The Single, of the same title, since its release, has enjoyed a lot of air time on radio and wide spread popularity in clubs and relaxation spots around the country. Truly, the afro hip hop musician has been a revelation and has confirmed to many that talents still exist in the Nigerian Music Industry.
