Nigeria kept alive her slim hopes of qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa with a hard earned lone goal win over Mozambique in Abuja with Malaga striker Victor Obinna Nsofor scoring the winner three minutes into stoppage time for the Super Eagles.

Heartland of Owerri proved itself the better of the two Nigerian representatives in the 2009 CAF Champions League after defeating Kano Pillars by a lone goal at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano to qualify for the final of Africa's elite club competition.
