It was Thomas Jefferson who lived between 1743-1826 that said a good government is one which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread that it has earned. And Jim Morrison sums it up that whoever controls the Media, controls the mind. However, it is also on note that journalism school is the reminder of the age-long bitterness between the statesman and the pressman particularly for a fresher, though open to question, they need one another to grow. But just about, they are like two comparable lines, while we're on the subject.

It is amazing and at the same time unfortunate to observe how our public leaders have resorted to using the nation's money for their private use. Public funds that are meant to put smiles on people's faces, through the improvement of their standard of living, are now used to service and satisfy self-conceited selfish interest. Public Servants who are supposed to be custodians to the nation's resources under their care, have now turned into Public Masters, unable to give account of their stewardship. It is just a shame that, Nigerians are made to witness one scam or the other, involving millions and billions of Naira, swallowed by our so called public leaders.

Dear Sir,
RE: NNPC, PPPRA GET N36 BILLION FOR FUEL IMPORTS
The Nigerian government is very good at coming out with elaborate policies, saying so much but doing very little. Rather than addressing issues from the root cause, they prefer to take the easy root out, using temporary solutions to solve permanent problems. This has been the problem militating against the development of the nation's crude oil and natural gas for decades now.

President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua Executive President Federal Republic of Nigeria, Aso Rock Villa, Asokoro District, Abuja.
Dear Sir,
NIGERIA SO RICH, YET SO POOR
Paradox, that is the exact word, that best describes the Nigerian situation and her economy. The worst thing that can happen to any living being is to live in abject penury and die in the process, while in the midst of stupendous wealth, abundance and riches. That is the exact situation countless Nigerians have found themselves in. The country's standard of living (as witnessed of the people) when compared with the country's national income (or GDP), is like comparing dog and mouse. The disparity that exist between what the country is earning and the sub-human living conditions of its citizenry, is enough to agitate any sane mind and leave them in absolute shock. It makes one to wonder, what is actually wrong with this country of ours? Where are we heading to? What kind of future does this hold for our children? Only God will help us!
